Everybody should plan on arriving Friday or Saturday morning early to set up. All vehicles must be out of camp by 9:45 am on Saturday. Camp wide Unit drill is scheduled for 11:00 Saturday\, but our Company should form up at 10:30 for inspection. Get your gear ready and roll cartridges. Check your rifles for rust before coming out.

DESCRIPTION:I regret to inform you all that School of the Soldier has been CANCELLED DUE TO ADVERSE WEATHER CONDITIONS.\n\nThe weather forecast for the weekend predicts low temperatures and very high probabilities of rain throughout the day for both Saturday and Sunday. Thunderstorms are being predicted for Sunday.  While we have had events with smatterings of rain before\, or rain that falls overnight\, having an event in a downpour is something that should be avoided.\n\nI apologize for the short notice. I know that many of us put in a significant amount of work to prepare for this event over the past few weeks.\n\nI look forward to our next chance to have a reenactment at Riley’s near the end of April. Please keep that on your radar and hopefully we will have more favorable conditions to work with.

DESCRIPTION:A maximum effort event for the 49th Ohio. Camp location will be the same as before. Registration will be $10 each with a signed waiver of liability form. We have a new supply of powder for those that need it\, and a supply of caps. It is time to pay your dues for 2023. Bring money or checks made out to “49th Ohio Volunteers”. Dues checks can also be mailed to Jeff Lawson\, 3598 Kellington Court\, Oceanside\, CA 92056\, if you can’t attend this event. \n1. Parking will be different this year it will be in a corral behind the corral we parked in last year.  Park staff will direct you to where to park.  This could change based on the condition of the parking lots\, so please be patient.  A reminder if you are argumentative with staff or disrespectful you will be asked to leave the event. These folks are volunteers and we are guests at their facility. Be nice!!!!\n\n2. Do not drive on the grass\, due to the wet conditions it will damage the grass  and you might get stuck. All vehicles must stay on the road. Do not set up your camp until you have received direction and approval from your respective  army commander.  Civilians will report to the union commander.\n\n3. There will be metal trash cans for ashes at the end of the event\, please deposit you ashes in these cans.\n\n4. All participants must be registered.  This includes all civilians. Registration will be at the  union camp in the of the Irish Brigade  (69th NYSV).  We will attempt to set up registration in the confederate camp but that is TBD.  Registration is $10 please bring exact change if possible. You will need to fill out as waiver and receive a wrist band. I have attached a copy off the waiver to this email (see below)\n\n5. There will be food vendors on site

DESCRIPTION:The event will run Friday and Saturday of that weekend [May 12-14]. Sunday\, the farm is generally closed to the public\, but the grounds will be available for any and all who wish to conduct workshops\, practice drilling\, shop the vendors or pull up stakes and head home. Sunday will be reserved for reenactors. We will also be holding a Sunday service for those interested.\nRiley’s Farm will be closing down our Colonial area on Saturday to ensure all of our guests come up to the barn area and visit our event.\nArtillery/ Horses — Our artillery and horse friends are invited to our event. Unfortunately\, there will be limitations on how many artillery pieces will be needed and the farm will be working on a powder bounty. There will be a schedule of when we are able to fire our artillery as well\, but we think a demonstration and using them during the battles on Friday and Saturday will be approved.\nCamping/ Amenities — Camping is available for all reenactors. We have running potable water\, restroom facilities and firewood. Though because of restrictions\, we are only able to have above ground fires at this time. Reenactors are invited to begin setup anytime after 4pm on Thursday (May 12th) or after 4pm on Friday for those who can’t make it on Thursday. All reenactors are invited to stay until Monday if desired. \nBlue and Gray Ball — Yes! We are holding a dinner/dance in our 1880s packing shed Saturday night for our reenactor friends. Details and pricing is still being worked out\, but Riley’s Los Rios is running the event.

SUMMARY:Strathearn Historical Park
DESCRIPTION:Participation fee $5 for all military and civilian participants. Registration will begin at noon on Friday\, April 1\, 2022. A general release of liability form is to be signed by all participants. Participant wristbands (hemp cord)  must be worn at all times during the event. Participants can begin setting up on Friday\, April 1\, 2022 at noon.  \nDinner tickets are available at the time of registration. Dinner reservations must be made on site by 11am\, Saturday\, April 2\, 2022. Dinner and dance is planned for participants on Saturday night. Dinner will be $10 – cash or card.  \nOvernight parking for participants is available on Strathearn Place. Fire wood will be available for participants. Above ground fires only are allowed in the park. Reenactors are encouraged to have water buckets and shovels near fires. Participant vehicles must be off park grounds by 9pm on Friday\, April 1 and by 9am on Saturday and Sunday\, April 2 & 3. No vehicles are allowed to park overnight inside the park. Families and friends of reenactors\, sutlers and volunteers will be considered guests and are required to pay the entrance fee\, unless they have a specific part in the encampment.
